USDA researchers have identified a potential vaccine for Campylobacter in poultry through a study funded by the US Poultry and Egg Association and the association’s foundation.
For the study, researchers purified proteins from Campylobacter and tested them for potential use as vaccines. One protein, known as FliD, showed promise according to the association. Researchers said the protein was common to all 21 Campylobacter jejuni strains tested and able to produce an immune response in broilers.
