IDFA pushes for flexibility in how processors use preventive controls
Some food industry groups are praising revisions made by FDA to four rules implementing parts of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The updates cover preventive controls for human food, preventive controls for animal food, foreign supplier verification programs and produce safety. The revisions were made after various food groups offered comments.
The International Dairy Foods Association pushed for more flexibility in how food processing facilities use preventive controls, like pathogen testing, to ensure food safety.
