A second outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts is under investigation by state and federal health officials after infecting nine people in Minnesota and Wisconsin with a strain of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157. According to CDC, two people have been hospitalized.
Investigators say the source of the outbreak is likely tied to alfalfa sprouts produced by Wisconsin-based Jack & The Green Sprouts. All of the infected people interviewed reported eating or possibly eating sprouts in the week before they became ill.
