Bühler opened the doors of its first US-based Food Innovation Center in Plymouth, MN.

 

Atlas Copco Compressors appointed John Wozniak general manager/vice president west region US. Wozniak joined Atlas Copco in 2003 as the Chicago customer center manager.

 

Lyco Manufacturing opened a food product development laboratory in Columbus, WI to assist its customers with product recipe development and machinery trials.

 

Nalco, an Ecolab company, announced construction of a dry polymer production facility at the company's complex in Garyville, La. The 300,000-sq.-ft. facility will produce dry polymer products for use in removing contaminants from wastewater.

 

PTI-Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Plastic Technologies, Inc. (Holland, OH), has established a MOCON, Inc. certified permeation testing laboratory at its facility in Yverdon.

 

GEA Process Engineering received an order for building what is said to be the world’s largest dairy spray dryer from Fonterra in New Zealand. The plant will have a capacity of 30 tons/hr. of whole milk powder, equivalent to more than 4.4 million liters/day of milk.

 

SPX Corporation’s Flow Technology segment was awarded a contract worth more than $30 million from ArNoCo GmbH & Co. KG of Germany, a joint venture between DMK and Arla Food Ingredients. Under the terms of the contract, SPX will provide ArNoCo with a complete lactose processing system, including sanitary membrane plants, for the large-scale production of whey protein concentrate (WPC) at a new cheese plant in Northern Germany.

 

Michelle Comerford, managing director of Austin Consulting, was named to the membership of the Site Selectors Guild.

 

Don Laux, Colson Caster Corporation’s president and general manager, presented Gregg Goodner, president of  Hytrol Conveyor Company, Inc., with a distinctive award honoring the two company’s 50-year business partnership.

 

Marler Clark filed a lawsuit on behalf of heavy metal musician Chris Fronzak who allegedly contracted a severe Salmonella infection after consuming sushi made with Salmonella-contaminated “tuna scrape.”
