Robert Barker was hired as vice president of coffee quality at Coffee Pacifica.

Robert Barker was hired as vice president of coffee quality at Coffee Pacifica. Barker will be responsible for the company’s quality assurance program including training and coffee cupping of Papua New Guinea and Jamaica coffee. His background includes coffee production, grading, importing and trading.

Beckhoff Automation promoted Mark Lewis to support manager. He will be responsible for managing technical support, field service and repair departments at the company’s Burnsville, MN, headquarters.


SENSENIG

Sweet Success Enterprises, a maker of healthy-lifestyle beverages, appointed Robert Straus, senior vice president and senior analyst at Merriman Curhan, Ford & Co., to its board of directors.

The National Food Laboratory, an independent affiliate of the Food Products Association, now offers services including product strategy and concept development, product innovation and commercialization, sensory evaluation, consumer research, food safety, quality assurance and analytical testing in addition to its traditional scientific testing and research services.

Tetra Pak’s acquisition of Carlisle Process Systems from Carlisle Companies was completed in December 2006. The company is beginning to merge CPS activities into Tetra Pak’s existing product solutions for cheese plants.

Giorgio Foods promoted David Sensenig to corporate marketing manager.


Thermo Electron Corp. and Fisher Scientific International announced that the merger of the two companies has been completed, creating Thermo Fisher Scientific.  The new company headquartered in Waltham, MA, has approximately $9 billion in revenues and 30,000 employees.

Snyder Industries, a manufacturer of polyethylene tanks and containers for storage, transportation and processing of bulk materials, acquired the Asset Tank divisions of Clawson Container Co.

Alcan Packaging Food Americas named Michael Curia vice president and general manager of Food & Specialties Flexibles. Curia formerly held the position of vice president and general manager of the Meat & Dairy Flexibles business unit.
