Douglas R. Conant and Denise M. Morrison

Campbell Soup Company announced that Douglas R. Conant, who served as president and chief executive officer since January 2001, will step down as CEO on July 31, 2011. The Board has elected Denise M. Morrison, executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective October 1, 2010, in anticipation of her election to succeed Conant as CEO at the beginning of fiscal 2012. Morrison has also been elected a director of the company as of October 1. She joined Campbell in April 2003 as chief customer officer and was appointed president of Campbell USA in 2005. She has been the president of North America Soup, Sauces and Beverages since October 2007. Before joining Campbell, she was employed by Kraft and Nabisco.

Mountaire Farms Inc. (Millsboro, DE) will expand its feed mill operation located on the Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway in Candor, NC.

Bill Rupp was named president of JBS USA’s beef division based in Greeley, CO.

The United Fresh Produce Association hired Barry A. Eisenberg, formerly head of technical services for River Ranch Fresh Foods, as its new vice president, food safety services.

Cargill signed an agreement to acquire Unilever’s tomato products business in Brazil for approximately R$600 million (approximately $356 million US).

Pierre Foods, Advance Food Com-pany and Advance Brands merged to form AdvancePierre Foods. The combined entity has approximately $1.3 billion in net sales.



Nick Wilson

Nick Wilson, president of Morrison Container Handling Solutions, was elected chairman of the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) board of directors.

Florida Crystals Corporation and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida announced their subsidiary American Sugar Refining, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Tate & Lyle PLC’s European sugar operations.

Nestlé agreed to acquire the Waggin’ Train dog snacks business in the US.
