RPC Bebo UK launched a new range of convenient food packs manufactured from biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA), a corn-based polymer made by US-based NatureWorks LLC. PLA is said to degrade under commercial composting conditions in 75 to 80 days. The packs are available in three sizes-375 ml, 650 ml, and 1500 ml-the 650 ml size is available in single- and twin-compartment versions. They feature a special positive stacking feature, with a recess in the lid that allows a second pack of the same size to sit on top to maximize shelf space. The packs can also be produced out of amorphous PET (APET).
