The Alfa Laval safety valve utilizes compressed spring force to keep it closed. If pressure builds up to a predetermined set point at the inlet of the safety valve, the unit is forced open. As the forces balance out, the valve discharges, decreases pressure and recloses. The valve is calibrated to the desired pressure set point, sealed and delivered with a PED certificate.
