The Novipax Pad-Loc Fresh absorbent pad generates carbon dioxide (CO2) inside a package to help create an environment unfavorable for microbial growth on fresh and processed meats, poultry, seafood and other food products; a granular agent releases the CO2 when moisture is absorbed into the pad. Used as a tool in a modified atmosphere packaging strategy, the FDA-approved pad eliminates the need for chemical preservatives and stabilizers.
