General Mills recalled 5-pound bags of Gold Medal unbleached all-purpose flour because E. coli was found in product sampling.

It's the second recent flour recall by a major brand for E. coli concerns.

The Gold Medal nationwide recall for potential E. coli O26 applies only to bags with a better if used by date of Sept. 6, 2020. The UPC code is 01000 196100.

“This recall is being issued out of an abundance of care as General Mills has not received any direct consumer reports of confirmed illnesses related to this product,” the company’s announcement says.

General Mills asks consumers to check their pantries and throw away the product. The company reminds people that the FDA warns against eating any product with raw flour before cooking kills E. coli.
