Foremost Farms is spending $47.2 million to expand its mozzarella cheese production plant in Appleton, WI.  The project, which will increase the plant from 140,000 to 153,000 sq.-ft., is expected to increase yearly production from 65 million to 130 million pounds of cheese.

Carroll Manufacturing & Sales will enlarge its 70,000-sq.-ft.-building in Avon, OH, by adding 63,500 sq.-ft. for extra warehouse space, offices, QC testing and production for its recently acquired spice technology. The project is valued between $3.8 and $5.3 million.

Kentucky Eagle’s new Lexington, KY, distribution center (DC) is the first Anheuser-Busch DC to be awarded LEED certification. The 188,024-sq.-ft.-facility uses 42.3% less water and almost 19% less energy than a comparable non-LEED-certified DC. The facility was built using 22.5% recycled materials and 35.2% regionally manufactured materials.

Folgers will invest $69 million, retain 450 existing jobs and create 120 new jobs. Folgers will also expand its manufacturing facilities at Old Gentilly Road and Chef Menteur Highway in Orleans and its DC in Lacombe.

Hormel’s Dubuque, IA, production plant officially opened in March. The new 348,000- sq.-ft.-production facility cost $89 million. It is expected to be LEED certified.
