Bruce Foods will expand its New Iberia, LA plant, creating 43 new jobs by 2014. The expansion will allow the plant to produce new products from root vegetables, such as sweet potatoes and carrots, plus squash.

Allen Foods, a division of Pennsylvania-based Bimbo Bakeries USA, plans to build a 135,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility on a 20-acre site in south Topeka, KS.

Allen Family Foods will expand its Harbeson, DE poultry processing plant to increase production from 1.0 to 1.2 million birds per week by September. According to newly appointed President and CEO Bob Turley, additional production increases are planned for 2011/2012.

VersaCold’s new refrigerated storage and distribution center in the Port of Tacoma, WA is expected to open in July. The 196,000-sq.-ft. facility features cooler, freezer and ice cream storage, and will also have 85,000 sq. ft. of space in which to expand. The facility includes USDA/FDA/USDC/FSIS inspection services.

Sanderson Farms plans to build a new poultry complex near Goldsboro, NC. The company is expected to spend about $94 million in its new big-bird deboning complex. Construction should begin in the second quarter of fiscal 2011.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England plans to build a warehouse and distribution center on a 33-acre lot in Waterbury, CT.
