Plant Openings & Expansion

Nestlé has announced construction of its largest ready-to-drink aseptic beverage plant and distribution facility in Anderson, IN. From 2006 to 2011, Nestlé will have invested $529 million on this site, which is expected to add 435 new jobs in the region and occupy a total of 1,000,000 sq.-ft. Phase 1 (880,000 sq. ft.) opened in May 2008, and Phase 2 (220,000 sq. ft.), which began in August 2008, is scheduled to open in 2011. The state-of-the-art facility is being built according to LEED requirements.

A new aseptic PET and HDPE bottling facility is underway for Flavours, Inc. in Southern California. The new 58,000 sq.-ft. Yorba Linda co-packing facility will provide three methods of aseptic processing: tubular, steam injection and plate-and-frame.

Cargill is building a new manufacturing plant in Casa Grande, AZ, that will produce feed for dairy, beef, farm-store, birdseed and show-animal customers. Construction of the $20 million, 18,000 sq.-ft. plant began last fall and is expected to be complete in early 2010. The new structure plus existing on-site buildings totals 96,748 sq. ft.

J.M. Smucker Company will locate a new southeast distribution hub near Atlanta’s International Airport. The 557,000 sq.-ft. facility will be leased from DCT Industrial.

Spartan Foods (Spartanburg, SC) recently expanded its Spartanburg County operations by leasing a 30,000 sq.-ft. warehouse near its production plant.
