Specific screening test
Since the launch of its first Salmonella test kit in 1987, TECRA's innovative products have been progressively adopted for routine testing by food and industrial testing laboratories around the world. Rapid test kits for some of the major causes of food poisoning such as Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli O157, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcal enterotoxins are among the many products that TECRA manufactures, but more recently-launched test kits such as those for Campylobacter and Pseudomonas are attracting attention by setting new standards of speed, performance and convenience.

Food Safety Solutions
Neogen Corporation develops and markets food safety solutions. Neogen's solutions include rapid, easy-to-use and accurate test kits for pathogens, including E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Salmonella enteritidis, Listeria and Campylobacter; and rapid sanitation tests, including kits for generic E. coli, TPC, yeast and fungi, and protein and ATP — Biotrace's market-leading Uni-Lite XCEL. Neogen's Acumedia subsidiary can fill any dehydrated culture media need, from custom blends to high-volume production.

Rapid Detection System
GENE-TRAK Systems, a leading manufacturer of food diagnostics, introduces a new rapid system for detecting Salmonella spp. in food. Sequepoint Salmonella utilizes DNA hybridization technology in a microtiter format that can be used manually or with an automated processor for high throughput of microbiological analysis of food samples. Utilization of directly labeled probes provides sensitivity and specificity equivalent to the GENE-TRAK Salmonella DLP Assay and traditional culture methods. The assay is capable of detecting as few as 1 Salmonella cell in 25 grams of food sample. The combination of DNA hybridization technology in a 96 well microtiter format offers flexibility, convenience and reliable results.

GENE-TRAK Systems, 94 South St., Hopkinton, MA 01748. Tel. (508) 435-7400; fax (508) 435-0025.

Safety monitoring
Eichrom's products result from innovations in chemical separations, immunoassay and particle manufacturing. The eclipse E.coli O157:H7 rapid test is designed for safety monitoring of ground beef, pork, and vegetables and offers superior specificity for the :H7 species at high sensitivity to significantly reduce the incidences of false positives. Eichrom also manufactures Medi8, and accelerated growth medium for E. coli O157:H7.

Eichrom Technologies, Inc., 8205 S. Cass Ave, Suite 111, Darien, IL 60561. Tel. (630) 963-0320; fax (630) 963-1928; www.eichrom.com Product 228

"Drain Doser" pumps
Anko Products' new generation of MityFlex peristaltic pumps are designed for increased efficiencies in flow-maintenance dosing, feed, metering and sampling operations. MityFlex pumps are the longtime industry-proven choice as "Drain Dosers" for injection of microbial cultures into commercial drain lines. The cultures keep drain lines flowing freely by helping eliminate buildups of clogging fats, oils and grease. Regulated amounts of naturally occurring bacteria are dispensed into grease traps and drainage collection systems, via the adjustable flow rates of the MityFlex pumps. These Drain Dosers are used in plant facilities ranging from chemical manufacture to food and beverage processing, and in thousands of commercial and institutional foodservice locations worldwide.
