SureBeam Corp., producers of the electron beam technology that removes bacteria from food, dedicated a new research facility to Texas A&M University. “The electron beam process has the potential to revolutionize the level of safety we can expect from our food products,” said Dr. Mark McLellan, director and professor at the Institute of Food Science & Engineering at Texas A&M University. Similar to a microwave oven, SureBeam° technology irradiates and eliminates harmful bacteria such as e.coli, listeria and salmonella. The new facility will enhance food safety research and development and product testing.
SureBeam Corp., headquartered in San Diego, Calif., recently added two new meat processors to its customer list. WW Johnson Meat Company is expanding its SureBeam° processed fresh ground beef product line. Kenosha Beef also signed on to use SureBeam technology.
