Key Technology’s Tegra sorters for fresh-cut processors automatically detect and remove defects and foreign material from the product stream at high production rates. Using Vis/IR cameras and a metal-mesh catenary C-Belt for positive product positioning, the sorter views product top and bottom, while in air, to maximize the removal of defects and foreign materials. The company says the sorters provide gentle handling to minimize product damage and maximize shelf life for tender products such as baby spinach. The addition of a laser makes the unit suitable for removing the core, as well as defects and foreign material, for products such as iceberg and cabbage.
