Expert disputes nanoparticle danger
He says nanoparticles in packaging will not migrate to products.
Nanomaterials expert Dr. Roland Franz of the Fraunhofer Institute's department for process engineering and packaging said nanoparticles used in food and beverage packaging will not migrate into the products themselves. At a European Parliament lunch debate, Franz said studies showed no evidence that spherical silver and titanium nitride nanomaterials migrated into food when incorporated into low density polyethylene packaging. The presentation included research from the Bavarian Authority for Public Health and Food Safety project on Nanotechnology-related food safety.
