The EPA is feeling the heat from some in Congress who say it has strayed too far into politics. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Rep. Brad Ashford (D-NE) are among the lawmakers asking the EPA to account for its funding a campaign in Washington state they say is “anti-farmer.” Specifically, the lawmakers want EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy to explain EPA Region 10’s funding of a website and advocacy campaign asking for greater regulation of farmers and ranchers. Newhouse says EPA’s participation is contrary to federal law and a misuse of taxpayer dollars.
