Stampede Meat, Inc., has announced it will be expanding to New Mexico, the company's first expansion outside its home state of Illinois.

The company will invest more than $36 million in renovating a former Tyson plant in Sunland Park, New Mexico. The facility is expected create up to 1,295 food processing and manufacturing jobs over the next five years.

"Stampede has been at capacity on some critical lines for a number of months," Stampede Meat CEO and president Brock Furlong says. "Starting this fall, this will allow Stampede to grow with a significant investment in cook capacity and new capabilities to continually play a more critical rol as our customers look for more turn-key solutions."

Stampede Meat is headquartered in Bridgeview, Illinois. The company processes and distributes portioned, marinated and cooked beef, chicken, and other protein products for restaurants, retail, home delivery and other channels.
