Columbus, Ohio-based White Castle hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for their latest meat processing facility in Zanesville, Ohio. This facility is the third such meat processing plant for White Castle, with similar facilities in operation in Orleans and Lebanon, Inc. More than 50 people will be employed at the 34,000-sq.-ft. plant. White Castle also operates its own bakeries in Evendale, Ohio, Carteret, N.J. and Renssalaer, Inc. Frozen food production facilities are located in Louisville and Covington, Ky. the manufacturing arm of the 80 year old corporation, PSB Company, operates in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, and in Rome, Ga.

St. Onge, Ruff and Associates (SORA) recently completed design and construction of a 65,000-sq.-ft. refrigerated expansion for Willow Run Foods in Kirkwood, New York. The expansion doubled the refrigerated storage capacity of the original facility, which was built in 1988. The project included cooler and freezer space, a refrigerated dock with vertical dock levelers and a new ammonia refrigeration system. SORA, a full-service engineering firm specializing in the planning, design and construction of processing, warehousing and distribution facilities, is headwuartered in York, Penn. and has a west coast office in Yakima, Wash.

The national consulting firm of Carter & Burgess announced that its Distribution Center Group has reached a company goal of 100,000,000 sq. ft. of automated distribution center space constructed over the last 15 years. The Distribution Center Group, was recently ranked number two nationally in Engineering News-Record's "Top Ten in Distribution/Warehouses."
