Blender literature
Ross offers new Centrum Blender literature illustrating and describing a new line of vertical blenders. The new Centrum blender incorporates a unique conical-shaped agitator design combining helical ribbon and screw designs. The agitator is mounted vertically and rotates at close clearance to the conical vessel walls. Materials being mixed are moved in axial and radial directions by the agitator. The outer helix moves materials from the walls up and the screw moves materials from the bottom to the top of the vessel. The cone design helps to insure a complete discharge of all materials.

Mixer/Discharge system
Ross announced the availability of the double planetary mixer and discharge systems as a complete pre-engineered package. The mixer and discharge systems are available in many sizes from 1 through 500 gallons capacity. The system is typically used with the Ross double planetary to push out viscous materials that are incapable of flowing because of their high viscosity. Special control consoles can be provided to permit direct filling into cartridges, or into small cans or glass jars. The precise dispensing of viscous materials helps to save on waste and is also environmentally safe as all materials are essentially enclosed during discharge and filling operations.

Mixer technology
Quadro's YTRON Jet Mixer shortens process times, improves finished quality, eliminates stratification in tanks and assures homogeneity in the shortest period of time without over shearing products. Jet Mixer uses a specially designed rotor/stator to deliver a pure high axial flow, preventing vortices, unwanted air and generating the efficient mixing that revolutionizes mixing. The Jet Mixers are available with an optional bypass system for the immediate sub-surface dispersion of powders into liquid and are engineered to the specific process requirements for the application. The sanitary (CIP) designed mixers have no bushings, bearings or seals that come in contact with the product, decreasing repair frequencies and eliminating product contamination concerns.

Track downtime and efficiency
Wonderware Corp. has expanded its FactorySuite 2000 industrial automation software system with the introduction of a new downtime tracking and production efficiency monitoring toolset. The new DT Analyst module enables plant managers to easily determine if production equipment is functioning at optimum levels and to take corrective action where needed. DT Analyst consists of a series of modules that acquire and decode information from plant systems and equipment to determine whether or not a particular subsystem or piece of machinery is in a down condition. It can also assist with evaluation of long-term productivity of the equipment to correct production weaknesses. Explained Kevin Tock,"a manufacturer can identify production weaknesses, optimize production processes and tap into a plant's 'hidden capacity' simply by reducing overall downtimes, changeover time, maintenance problems and product flow or bottleneck problems. Since adding new equipment or additional shifts is expensive, and often unnecessary, DT Analyst provides the plant manager with more detailed and graphical information that enables identification, quantification and cost-justification for an equipment upgrade or replacement that can improve total productivity." DT Analyst supports multiple database types, although it is intended for use with FactorySuite's Industrial SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Server 7.0.
