Dutch meat wholesaler accused of horse meat fraud

Authorities have arrested Willy Selten, proprietor of Willy Selten BV, for allegedly passing 300 tons of horse meat off as beef. The discovery was made after Dutch food safety authorities asked hundreds of companies across Europe to test products received from Willy Selten BV for authenticity. The companies records show the offending meat was processed as beef. Mr. Selten denied the charges, saying, “We never stuck labels on something that wasn't beef.”
