FDA announced it will extend the comment period for its preliminary determination that partially hydrogenated oils such as trans fats are not generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for use in food. The 60-day extension, which FDA says comes at the request of numerous stakeholders, will move the deadline to March 8, 2014.
