The Ocean Optics Flame-NIR near-infrared spectrometer quantifies sugar, moisture, protein, acidity and vitamin C in fruits and vegetables; screens for internal rot, pests and ripeness in produce; identifies and classifies seeds, grains and pulses; confirms the species of fish; distinguishes between thawed and fresh fish, identifies artificially boosted water content in fish and measures fat and protein in meats; gauges cheese ripeness; and measures fat and protein in milk. The unit can be located in labs or integrated on production lines.
