American Meat Institute releases updated Recommended Animal Handling Guidelines and Audit Guide
The audit underwent a first major overhaul in 2010, and has been tweaked in 2012 and 2013.

American Meat Institute (AMI) released an updated version of its Recommended Animal Handling Guidance and Audit Guide: A Systematic Approach to Animal Welfare. The July 2013 edition was certified by the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization and includes clarification on farrowing on trucks, a new category called "ambulatory disabled animals" and a correction to Core Criteria 2 of the Sheep Transportation Audit.
