New packaging sustainability standard released
Global Protocol for Packaging Sustainability includes more than 40 indicators for sustainability.

GS1, a not-for-profit organization that facilitates trade through global standards across 150 countries, released the Global Protocol for Packaging Sustinability, developed by the Consumer Goods Forum to provide consumer goods and packaging companies a common language to discuss and assess sustainability. The standard includes more than 40 environmental, social and economic indicators for packaging sustainability, and metrics will be available as part of a trade item's product information available from GS1's Global Data Synchronisation Network.
The GPPS standard will benefit businesses by lowering cost, reducing environmental impact and improving customer perception. For more, http://www.gs1.org.
