AMI reported China has lifted its ban on poultry from Virginia, a ban which took effect in 2007 after an outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza.

Additionally, the institute said Mexico made regulatory changes which will allow for the import of beef and beef products from the United States from cattle of any age. According to the institute, this change removes restrictions on the import of U.S. beef from cattle more than 30 months old and removes the last of Mexico's BSE-related restrictions.

This will also allow for termination of the AMS export verification program for Mexico.

The change to the beef rule will be effective once the USDA export library is updated. The lift of the ban in China is not yet reflected in the export library.
