The MPPEP aims to increase competition across the economy to help lower costs for American families, and this announcement is expected to expand meat and poultry processing capacity, which in turn is expected to increase competition, supports producer income and strengthen the food supply chain to lower costs.

In a Constituent Update issued by the FDA, the agency has made available testing results for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in seafood samples collected at retail. The FDA conducted this limited survey as a preliminary step to determine if a more targeted or larger seafood survey should be conducted.
This guidance document, which has been issued to increase the supply of infant formula, will remain in effect until November 14, 2022, at which time the FDA will evaluate whether any extension is necessary.
