Designed with modular components, the Volkmann BBU2 contained bulk bag unloading station offers dust-free material flow from the bag to the vacuum conveyor and downstream processes.
With the Gericke Cone Nibbler size reduction unit, material is subjected to a combination of compression, impact and shear forces as the rotor arm moves over the stationary cone wall.
The new conveying system reduces the time it takes to produce a batch and reduces damages to ingredients.
"We were operating at 100 percent of capacity. Our bulk handling equipment, which consisted largely of inclined conveyor belts, was inefficient and very labor intensive," says Michael Smulders, owner of Bakery on Main.
The Metalfab bag dump hopper incorporates a baffle and bin vent to attach to a central dust collector or an optional bin vent filter over the dump area.
