Nature’s Path is recalling a specific run of three kinds of EnviroKidz cereal that may contain undeclared gluten because of air contamination resulting from incorrect production scheduling, the FDA announced.

The Choco Chimps, Gorilla Munch and Jungle Munch that might have wheat and barley include these 10-ounce boxes in the United States:

  • Choco Chimps, UPC 0 5844987024 1, best by 08/27/2019
  • Gorilla Munch, UPC 0 58449 86002 0, best by 08/24/2019
  • Gorilla Munch, UPC 0 58449 86002 0, best by 09/21/2019
  • Jungle Munch, UPC 0 5844987028 9, best by 08/01/2019

In Canada, these 284-gram boxes are recalled:

  • Choco Chimps, UPC 0 5844987023 4, best by 08/27/2019
  • Gorilla Munch, UPC 0 58449 86002 0, best by 08/24/2019
  • Jungle Munch, UPC 0 5844987027 2, best by 08/01/2019

The error was isolated to one facility of the privately held, family-owned company that makes organic and non-GMO breakfast and snack foods.

“This failure to meet the gluten-free standard our consumers expect and trust from us is a deep concern,” says Arjan Stephens, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nature’s Path. “We have reviewed and changed our internal practices to ensure our gluten-free cereals are not impacted in the future.”

People who have a wheat allergy, celiac disease or sensitivity to gluten and wheat should not eat the cereals listed.

Consumers requesting a refund for the affected cereals should return the product to their retailer. Consumers may also contact Nature’s Path Consumer Services at 866-880-7284, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST, or email ConsumerServices@naturespath.com.
