Plant Openings: April 2015

Seatrade International Co., Inc. announced the completion of a new IQF scallop processing line at its facility in Lakeville, MA. The Skaginn’s MBF 3000 line will process up to 6,000 pounds of scallops per hour.

San-J International will invest $38 million to expand its tamari sauce production facility in Henrico, VA.

Butterball, LLC announced the purchase of a further processing facility in Raeford, NC. The company will invest nearly $30 million to improve the 200,000-sq.-ft. facility, bringing its production capacity to 200 million pounds annually.

Comfy Cow is opening an ice cream production and distribution center in Louisville, KY. It will invest $2 million to lease a 6,500-sq.-ft. facility.

Allergen Free Bakers, a contract manufacturing company, has opened a 5,000-sq.-ft. baking facility in Fairfield, NJ.

Blue Shore Fishery will invest $1.3 million in an 11,000-sq.-ft. production facility in Tri City, KY to process Asian carp caught in western Kentucky. The facility is expected to create more than 60 new jobs.

Sensient Flavors LLC, will expand its facility in the City of Harbor Beach, MI, creating 28 jobs.

Acme Smoked Fish Corporation opened a new cold, smoked salmon facility in Wilmington, NC. The 100,000-sq.-ft. facility will initially produce 10 million pounds of product per year.
