German dark chocolate with coffee beans recalled for undeclared milk
Ritter Sport bars distributed nationwide
Stark Group International recalled Ritter Sport KAFFEESPLITTER dark chocolate bars from Germany because they may contain milk allergens not noted on the labels.
The Greenvale, N.Y., company distributed the 3.5-ounce brown packages of chocolate with bits of caramelized coffee beans to stores nationwide. The UPC code is 000417 927002.
Routine testing by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets detected the milk allergens in packages that did not declare a milk ingredient on the label, Stark Group says.
No illnesses had been reported at the time of the company’s recall announcement.
People who bought the chocolate can return it to the store for a refund. Anyone with questions can reach the company at 516-626-3704.
