Report: Avian influenza still major concern for poultry industry

DOE lists barriers to saving energy

In 2012, industry (comprised of manufacturing, agriculture, mining and construction) accounted for about one-third (30.6 quads) of the US’s total primary energy consumption, according to a recently released DOE report entitled “Barriers to Industrial Energy Efficiency.”

Food industry petitions FDA for use of partially hydrogenated oils

September 10, 2015

In mid June the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a final determination that removes partially hydrogenated oils (PHO), the primary source of artificial trans fats in processed food, from the “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) list of human food ingredients.
