Campbell Soup Company has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) and land lease agreement with American Capital Energy (ACE) to construct a 2.3 mega-Watt capacity photovoltaic (PV) solar power generation ground-mount tracker system on 14 acres of the processor’s facility in Sacramento, CA. The plant supplies Campbell’s soups, sauces and beverages to 10 Western states and the Far East.
Sara Lee Corp. announced an agreement to sell its fresh bakery businesses in Spain and Portugal to Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V. for approximately $154 million. The agreement includes all Sara Lee fresh bakery brands in Spain and Portugal as well as seven manufacturing facilities.

The J. R. Simplot Company will build a state-of-the-art potato processing plant in Caldwell, ID. Site preparation is anticipated to begin next May with startup expected by spring of 2014. The 380,000-sq.-ft. plant will replace the company’s existing potato processing plant in Caldwell.
