Angelus Sanitary Can Machine Co. announced that it has become the majority shareholder of AROL S.p.A. of Italy. AROL is one of the world's leading manufacturers of capping machinery with an installed base of over 8,000 machines worldwide. The Angelus and AROL collaboration will have a positive effect for both companies¿it enables Angelus to offer new machines and services in existing channels and it fosters AROL's marketshare growth in the Western Hemisphere.

The Open DeviceNet Vendor Association (ODVA), an independent organization that supports the worldwide growth of DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP, announced Katherine Voss as executive director of the organization. Prior to joining ODVA, Voss served as sales and marketing leader for the general motion business at GE Fanuc Automation.

Industrial Research Team (IRT) of Montreal, Canada, issued a complete retraction of a report concerning roller chain the company issued in 1999. "No one making any purchasing decisions regarding roller chain should do so, in whole or in part, based on statements contained or results set forth in the Report," wrote Daniel Schwartz, President of IRT. "We are pleased that this poorly conceived and executed study has been withdrawn," said Kenji Ohara, President of U.S. Tsubaki. "It has taken considerable time and effort to reach this point, and now we can set the record straight."

The Endress+Hauser group has acquired all of the shares of Wedgewood Technology, Inc. The San Jose, Calif.-based analysis instrumentation manufacturer is being integrated into Conducta GmbH, the competence center for Endress+Hauser's analysis instrumentation. Wedgewood develops, produces, and sells optical sensors, transmitters, and process connections for the water and wastewater, biotechnology and food sectors. The company has extensive experience in the UV and infrared radiation field, as well as in color determination for analysis measurement in process engineering applications.

Mateer Burt is reorganizing to achieve significant growth, according to John Thatcher, president. Mateer Burt is one of the six companies that constitute GEI Group, Ltd., a global competitor in the packaging and processing machinery industries. The restructuring at Mateer Burt will result in faster paced product improvement, new product development, and in improved customer service.

Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) has named Mark A. Bemis president, ADM Cocoa. He will assume responsibility for the global cocoa business of ADM and will report to Paul Mulhollem, Senior Vice President, ADM Grain, Oilseeds and Cocoa. Bemis joined ADM in 1983 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture economics at the University of Illinois.

David Lane, an Industrial Engineer with The Stellar Group, was recently published in Maynard's Industrial Engineering Handbook. Lane wrote a chapter on common types of material handling equipment used in process and distribution environments, practical application issues and the functionality of the main categories or conveyors and industrial trucks.
