American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) launched a new food safety self-assessment tool to help manufacturers comply with new Food Safety Modernization Act preventive controls rules. The tool provides facilities with a readiness score in 11 operational categories and indicates where action may be needed to comply with the rules. The self-assessment questionnaire can be completed an unlimited number of times over the three months following its initiation to allow facilities time to correct shortcomings. The tool can be accessed at AFFI’s website for $45 per facility for AFFI members and $395 per facility for other companies.
