Smoked sausage recalled due to possible contamination

Johnsonville recalls more than 109,000 pounds of product

Johnsonville LLC has recalled more than 109,000 pounds of smoked pork sausage products due to possible contamination with extraneous materials.

The fully cooked Jalapeno Cheddar smoked sausage products were produced on Jan. 4, 2018. The problem was discovered after the company received consumer complaints regarding hard, green plastic pieces in the sausage. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

The 14-oz. plastic packages bear establishment number "EST. 34224" inside the USDA mark of inspection. They have a Best By date of April 4, 2018 and a batch ID of either 1001124486 or 1001124487.

The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Consumers who have purchased the products should either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
