Readco Kurimoto Debuts RK-110 Safety Hinge

Readco RK Safety Hinge
Readco Kurimoto, LLC
November 5, 2026

Readco Kurimoto, LLC has introduced its largest RK Safety Hinge.

Designed to reduce the risk of injury when lifting heavy tank covers and other equipment lids by hand, the RK Safety Hinge Model RK-110 reduces the lid's lifting weight from as heavy as 293 lbs. to as light as 58 lbs., a reduction of up to 80%. The ergonomic device features a proprietary, spring-assisted mechanism that when installed on the lid, applies up to 538.4 ft-lb. of torque to enable one operator to safely open and access tanks, vessels, ports, wells, mixers and reactors with less risk of pinching injuries, back injuries and other reportable incidents.

Operating without electricity, compressed air or any other power source, the RK Safety Hinge Model RK-110 locks the cover in the raised position when opened with a built-in safety pin to help prevent it from falling. During closure, the device helps to slow the descent for a safe return into position that also aids in maintaining the integrity of any seals and gaskets.

The Model RK-110 features stainless steel construction with a waterproof design for use in food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other facilities. The largest of seven standard models, the rugged lift assist device is available to OEMs for addition during manufacture and may be retrofit onto heavy covers in the field.
