Cargill Ltd. agreed to purchase the Guelph, Ontario-based beef processing plant and its assets from Better Beef Ltd.

Cargill Ltd. agreed to purchase the Guelph, Ontario-based beef processing plant and its assets from Better Beef Ltd.

KVP, a manufacturer of plastic conveyor belting, named Christopher Nigon as president. Previously he was CEO of H&N Packaging, a manufacturer of packaging materials for the food industry.



Hershey Foods Corp. hired Michele Buck as senior vice president of the corporation and president of its recently formed US snacks group. Buck joins Hershey from Kraft Foods, where she was senior vice president and general manager of Kraft Confections.

Smithfield Foods achieved ISO 14001 certification for all of its US hog production and processing facilities.

Seattle Fish Co. of New Mexico purchased Morey's Seafood International's New Mexico location. Craig Risk will remain president of the new company.

Heath Shewmaker of King & Prince Seafood, Brunswick, GA, is the lucky winner of an Apple iPod. Food Engineering readers who participated in the recent Food Master User Research Study were eligible for the prize.

Pete Herb, vice president of business development at Fristam Pumps, has been elected to the International Association of Food Industry Suppliers' board of directors.



ANDERSON
Arthur Anderson has been named senior vice president-global research and development and quality with Campbell Soup Co. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of advanced technology for PepsiCo. Campbell also promoted Larry McWilliams from his position as president of US soups, sauces and beverages to president of Campbell International. Denise Morrison, previously president of global sales and chief customer officer, will fill McWilliams' previous position.

The board of directors of the WBF has decided to change the organization's name. "World Batch Forum" will be removed from use and WBF will be known as The Forum for Automation and Manufacturing Professionals.

Rene Steiner has been appointed president of Buhler North America. He is replacing Achim Klotz, who will now run the Die Casting division.

Landec Corp. has hired Ron Midyett as chief operating officer of its Apio, Inc. subsidiary, which markets a line of fresh-cut vegetable products.
