The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) reorganized its internal operations, creating four business units, and promoting individuals to oversee each unit. Tom Egan is vice president of industry services; Jorge Izquierdo is vice president of market development; Matthew Croson is vice president of member services/communications and Jim Pittas is vice president of tradeshows.
Food distribution company Nash Finch appointed Allister Graham as interim CEO. Graham was chairman of the board of directors for the company and previously served as CEO of the Oshawa Group Ltd., a multi-billion dollar food distributor in Canada.
Poore Brothers appointed Eric Kufel as CEO and director and Larry Polhill as chairman of the board of directors. Kufel was president, CEO and director of the company from 1997 to 2004 and chairman of the board from 2004 until 2006. Polhill was previously a member of the company's board of directors.
US Can Corp. is selling its US and Argentinean operations to Ball Corp. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter.
Suzanne Patterson was elected vice president, internal audit for Coca-Cola Enterprises. Patterson, who comes to the company from Sun Microsystems, will be responsible for all audit functions.
Gainco named Don Esch as company president. He replaces Larry Bettcher who will continue to serve as Gainco's chairman of the board.
Frozen Food Express Industries appointed Thomas Yetter as interim CFO to replace Gary Pruden who resigned as an officer and director of the company. Yetter has been with the company for 20 years and served as the treasurer since 1988.
Neal Jansen, a member of the board of directors of Vita Food Products, died in February. He served as director of the company since 1983 and was CEO and chairman of Lettieri's Inc., a manufacturer of Italian food. He previously served as CEO and chairman of Farm Fresh Catfish Co. and was CEO of Pies Inc.
