Daily’s Premium Meatschose A. Epstein and Sons International, Inc. to design and build a new pork processing plant in St. Joseph, MO. The $41.5 million plant will focus on producing sliced-to-order, naturally hardwood-smoked bacon. Work on the 140,000-sq.-ft. structure is expected to begin this summer; the plant will be operational in May 2016.

Designed and constructed by The Austin Company, Bimbo Bakeries Lehigh Valley, PA Orograin Bakery has achieved LEED Gold certification. The new 231,000-sq.-ft. site features rain gardens, multiple infiltration pools and riparian buffers, highly efficient HVAC, energy-efficient equipment and fixtures, solar tube skylights and hot water recirculation.

Monogram Food Solutions will build a $55 million, 54,000-sq.-ft. addition to its existing facility in Martinsville, VA. The company manufactures meat snacks under several brands. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

GNP Company, a producer of premium natural chicken, has begun the $35 million first phase of a two-phase expansion of its Cold Spring and St. Cloud, MN area operations.

Smithfield Foods broke ground on a new $12 million bacon slicing plant at its Cudahy, WI site. Expected to be fully operational by December 2015, the 17,000-sq.-ft. plant will include four slicing lines that will increase productivity by 10 million pounds a year.
