Natural pet food company Blue Buffalo announced the acquisition of 89 acres of land in Richmond, IN to build a new manufacturing plant and research and development facility that will create more than 160 jobs in the region.

“This new, state-of-the-art addition to our manufacturing network will complement our facility in Missouri,” says Bill Bishop, Blue Buffalo chairman and founder. “We expect to further increase our internal production capacity and now will have two of the most modern manufacturing facilities in the pet food industry.”

The 14-year-old company says it is investing $100 million to build the facility, according to the Associated Press. Blue Buffalo has now become the fourth pet food processor to operate out of Wayne County, IN.

The Connecticut-based company says construction is expected to commence in the second half of 2016.
