New procedures come after transitional period of inspectors always being on hand

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has confirmed that it is adjusting inspection coverage at official establishments that slaughter fish of the order Siluriformes from all hours of operation to once per production shift.
The new interactive program currently covers all San Diego-based Chicken of the Sea shelf-stable tuna products and will soon to the company’s entire shelf-stable product line.
Approximately 5,000 cases of ready-to-eat frozen crab products produced by Massachusetts-based Rome Packing Company Inc. were seized by U.S. Marshals at the request of FDA and the state attorney.
