Hormel Foods Corp. completed its acquisition of Lloyd's Barbeque Co. from General Mills. Lloyd's produces pork and beef barbeque ribs and shredded barbeque chicken, pork and beef.
Kraft Foods is selling its fruit snacks operation to the Kellogg Co. for $30 million. The fruit snacks business generated net revenues of $80 million in 2004. Kraft says the sale is part of its strategy to focus on businesses that offer a sustainable competitive advantage.
Del Monte Foods appointed Victor Lund to its board of directors. Lund served as vice-chairman of Albertson's until June 2002.
Andrew Booth, founder of the Maryland-based architectural and engineering firm AWB, distributed a majority of his interest in the company to key members of the company's board of directors. Chiquita Brands International, Inc., is buying Fresh Express from Performance Food Group for $855 million. The acquisition will give Chiquita access to Fresh Express restaurant customers including McDonald's Corp. and Yum Brands Inc.'s Taco Bell and KFC chains.
