Hardy Instruments, a San Diego-based manufacturer of process weighing, vibration monitoring and tension control solutions, has been acquired by Roper Industries. Hardy is expected to fit into Roper’s Energy Systems and Controls Group, which also consists of Amot, Compressor Controls Corp., Metrix Instrument Co. and others.

Butterball, LLC has hired Stephen Valesko as vice president of engineering. Valesko previously served as director of engineering for Boars Head Provisions Co., Inc. and has more than 25 years of experience in the food and beverage industry.



Quantum Foods LLC has named George A. Chivari to the post of chief operating officer. Chivari previously served as president and CEO of Coleman Natural Foods in Golden, CO.



The Barry-Wehmiller Design Group has named Mike Ripper, Sebastian Vega and Kurt Wirth as partners in the St. Louis-based engineering consulting firm. Ripper has been with the company for 18 years, Vega for 12 years and Wirth for 10 years.

Stephen A. Morrow was appointed vice president-sales of Lurbiplate Lubricants Company. Morrow joined the company in 1973 as district sales manager.



Donald E. Smith, chief technical officer of Multivac, Inc., has retired. Smith joined the company in the mid-1970s as a service technician. Throughout his employ, he held positions of regional sales manager, national sales manager, national service manager and director of sales administration.

M. G. Newell Corp., supplier of stainless steel equipment, engineering, design and installation services to the sanitary processing industries, has named Gary E. Sherrill director of marketing and development. Sherrill, formerly a sales representative for the Greensboro Div. located in Richmond, VA, will work at the company’s Greensboro headquarters.



Producer of southern-style heat and serve products, Glory Foods (Columbus, OH) hired Jacqueline Neal as its president. Neal has served in various management positions with M&M Mars, Quaker Oats, Heinz, Nabisco and Kraft. She has experience with CPG brands including M&Ms, Kibbles ‘n Bits dog food, A.1. Steak Sauce and Planters.
