The Dairy Research Institute announced its 2014 new product competition, open to undergraduate and graduate students in the US and Canada. This year's competition asks participants to develop a new dairy or dairy-based product that appeals to the baby boomer generation, the group that will control 70 percent of disposable income in the US over the next five years, according to Nielson. A winning entry will appeal to active older adults, who are motivated by independence, longevity and chronic diseases associated with aging.
