General Mills has again expanded its flour recall to include additional production dates after the CDC confirmed four more illnesses linked with consuming food containing raw flour contaminated with E. coli.
A second outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts is under investigation by state and federal health officials after infecting nine people in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The outbreaks recorded from 2010 to 2014 were responsible for 11 percent of all foodborne outbreak illnesses, 34 percent of hospitalizations and 56 percent of deaths.
