Haagen-Dazs Japan plans to build a second ice cream manufacturing plant in Shinmachi, Gunma Prefecture, which will increase its production capacity by 20%. The plant will make ice cream in mini-cups, but lines will also be able to produce sandwiches and parfait products.

Albuquerque Tortilla Co. broke ground on a $10 million, 87,000-sq.-ft. addition to its plant in Albuquerque, NM. The addition will boost capacity for green chilies, stews and salsas.

Archer Daniels Midland Co. is performing plant process upgrades and product line expansions in its Ilheus, Bahia, Brazil, cocoa processing facility, which makes cocoa powder, liquor, butter and cake product lines for international markets.

Tyson Foods Inc. is spending $95 million to double the office space of its Springdale, AR, headquarters. When completed in 2007, the expansion will allow the company to consolidate offices and make room for a research, development and training complex.
