Begun in March 2008, expansion work on Uncle Ben’s Greenville, MS plant has been completed. The $10 million project doubles the production of Uncle Ben’s 90-second Ready Rice line. Uncle Ben’s is part of Mars Foods US.

7-Eleven completed a 130,000 sq.-ft. combined distribution center and commissary located in Bohemia, Long Island, NY. The facility, operated by Norris Food Services, prepares and delivers fresh foods to 674 of the company’s 7-Eleven stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Begun early in 2008, Truitt Brothers’ new 200,000 sq.-ft., Bernstadt, KY plant celebrated its grand opening. The facility is the company’s first location outside of the Pacific Northwest. The new plant employs approximately 125 workers and is expected to increase its workforce to 400 as the facility expands. Truitt has been producing shelf-stable foods for more than 35 years.

On track for a May 2009 completion, Owens Foods’ Sulphur Springs, TX plant expansion adds 50,000 sq.-ft. to its existing facility of 52,777 sq.-ft, allowing the company to ship 28 million pounds of product per year with the increased size.

Pet Poultry Products is opening a new 144,000 sq.-ft. building in Milan, MO. The company is taking over the building formerly owned by Bluff Country Foods, which left in 2007.  The facility will prepare pork and poultry meats for sale to dog food manufacturers.
