US Poultry & Egg Association and the American Feed Industry Association signed an agreement with the American Meat Institute to co-locate the AMI tradeshow with the IPE/IFE show in Atlanta, annually in January, starting in 2013.

Malt-O-Meal has changed its name to MOM Brands.

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), managed by The Consumer Goods Forum, announced the appointment of Yves Rey, corporate quality general manager at Danone to succeed Jürgen Matern, vice president, sustainability and regulatory affairs at Metro AG, as its board chairman. Rey took over the leadership of GFSI at the recent conference in Orlando, FL.

Jim Shepherd joined Plex Systems Inc. as its vice president of strategy. Shepherd formerly served as vice president for Gartner Inc.

Snyder’s-Lance Inc. plans to construct a 60,000-square-foot research and development center in Hanover, PA near one of the company’s largest bakeries.

Douglas E. Peterson was named president of Rittal Corporation in Urbana, OH. He comes from the Industrial Solutions Division of Belden Americas Group, Indianapolis, IN.

ConAgra Foods, Inc. agreed to acquire Toronto-based Del Monte Canada Inc. from an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. The agreement includes the acquisition of all Del Monte-branded packaged fruit, fruit snacks and vegetable products in Canada, as well as Aylmer tomato products. Del Monte fresh produce and juices and Aylmer soups will remain under separate ownership.

Marc S. Firestone, Kraft Foods executive vice president, corporate and legal affairs, and general counsel, will leave the company in April. Gerhard W. Pleuhs will succeed Firestone. Pleuhs currently serves as senior vice president and deputy general counsel for Kraft Foods.

Cargill unveiled plans to invest close to $20 million in its newly acquired cocoa and chocolate facilities in Berlin, Germany.

Unilever announced the launch of The Unilever Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life through the provision of hygiene, sanitation, access to clean drinking water and basic nutrition and enhancing self-esteem.

Frutarom Industries Ltd. will acquire Brazilian Mylner Industria E Comercio Ltda for approximately $15.7 million.

Bunge has completed the previously announced acquisition of the edible oils and fats business of Amrit Banaspati.

CHS, a farmer-owned cooperative, completed the acquisition of Solbar, a global provider of specialty soy proteins and soy isoflavones.

Sara Lee Corp. acquired the Senseo brand of coffee products from Philips.

Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA acquired a specialized, gourmet foodservice coffee business from Sara Lee.

Americold announced that Jeffrey M. Gault, a director of Americold, was appointed by the board of trustees as the president and chief executive officer, succeeding Jos Opdeweegh, who resigned.

Kellogg Company entered into an agreement to acquire Procter & Gamble’s Pringles business for $2.695 billion. According to Kellogg, Pringles’ brand will complement its snacks brands, which include Keebler, Cheez-It and Special K Cracker Chips. In the US, the acquisition provides a new source of growth. Internationally, Pringles provides an established platform from which Kellogg can more aggressively leverage its brands in the international snacks category. The companies expect to complete the transaction in the summer of 2012.

The Brewers of Pennsylvania elected to its 2012 board of directors, president, Bill Covaleski (president and brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company); vice president, Michelle Sullivan (director of corporate and external relations of Sam Adams); treasurer, Dave Casinelli (COO of Yuengling Brewery); and secretary, Damien Malfara (founder, president and head brewer of Old Forge Brewing Company).

Intelligrated and SDI Group USA announced the launch of a new jointly owned and managed operation in São Paulo, Brazil.
